On Friday, Fox Business cancelled the show of Lou Dobbs, a longtime supporter of former President Donald Trump.
Now, Trump has broken his silence to voice his support for Dobbs in the wake of this announcement.
Trump Praises Lou Dobbs
“Lou Dobbs is and was great,” Trump said in a statement, according to The Hill. “Nobody loves America more than Lou. He had a large and loyal following that will be watching closely for his next move, and that following includes me.”
Dobbs responded by saying, “Thanks for your kind words Mr.President. God bless you and all the American patriots who make this country great.”

Fox Business cancelled “Lou Dobbs Tonight” despite the fact that it was the highest rated show on the network. The Los Angeles Times reported that Dobbs “remains under contract at Fox News but he will in all likelihood not appear on the company’s networks again.”
Sources said that Dobbs’ weak performance with advertisers played a major role in his show being cancelled.

Smartmatic Lawsuit Names Dobbs
Yahoo News reported that another factor was the Smartmatic defamation lawsuit, which named Dobbs and other Fox News hosts.
Smartmatic, whose machines were used only in Los Angeles County during the 2020 election, claims that lawyers representing former President Trump “created a story about Smartmatic” to discredit its products in an attempt to bolster claims that Democrats stole the election.
Fox, however, claimed that the cancellation of Dobbs’ show was a part of previously planned changes to the network’s programming.
“As we said in October, Fox News Media regularly considers programming changes and plans have been in place to launch new formats as appropriate post-election, including on Fox Business,” a Fox representative said. “This is part of those planned changes.”

Fox has also vowed to defend itself against Smartmatic’s suit. The network said that it “is committed to providing the full context of every story with in-depth reporting and clear opinion,” adding that it “will vigorously defend [against] this meritless lawsuit in court.”
